Deputy Campaign Manager

POSITION TITLE: Deputy Campaign Manager

REPORTS TO: Campaign Lead

COMPENSATION: $5,000 p/mo

Direct Reports: Field Director, Communications Consultant, Staff and Interns,

Deputy Campaign Manager will serve as the operational and strategic leader of the campaign—directing all day-to-day operations, staffing the candidate, managing a multi-tiered team, tracking core staff, and ensuring all moving parts align with the overall campaign plan and values. This is a senior leadership position that requires deep familiarity with Atlanta’s political landscape, experience coordinating across departments, and comfort juggling intense timelines with clarity and confidence.
 

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Management & Scheduling

  • Serve as the candidate’s primary point of contact responsible for the day-to-day activities and scheduling
  • Develop and maintain a weekly and monthly schedule aligned with field, fundraising, and media priorities (earned and paid)
  • Create the schedule for staffing call time, major meetings, and key campaign events
  • Ensure the candidate is prepared, briefed, and aligned with message for every engagement

Strategic Campaign Oversight

  • Lead execution of the campaign plan, including fundraising, field, communications, and mail programs
  • Oversee a Field Director responsible for executing a robust direct voter contact program and constituency outreach program
  • Manage the execution of a 200,000-piece direct mail program (several flights) with external vendors 
  • Track, coordinate and oversee weekly and monthly goals with staff, consultants and vendors

Team Leadership & Staff Management

  • Foster a values-aligned, disciplined, high-performing team culture
  • Manage and facilitate weekly staff meetings and individual check-ins to assess the needs of the campaign and coach staff 
  • Manage staff and consultants in carrying out work plans in support of advancing the goals included in the campaign plan

Fundraising Oversight

  • Work with the Finance Director to meet a $600k fundraising goal
  • Staff and prep the candidate for fundraising calls, meetings, and events
  • Support donor cultivation plan and ensure timely follow-up from candidate and team
  • Work with Campaign Advisor and Campaign Lead to monitor and track progress against weekly and monthly fundraising benchmarks

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain high-level relationships with labor unions, elected officials, movement leaders, institutional allies, and donors
  • Work with the Field Director to manage the campaign’s engagement across several key committees:
    • Students and Youth
    • Community & Faith Committee
    • Small Business Committee
    • Kitchen Cabinet (Senior Advisors & Surrogates)
    • Faith-based communities
  • Facilitate internal and external alignment between these constituency groups  and the campaign’s core strategy
