Position Overview

Goodgame Company, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and versatile CAD Detailer / Material Purchaser to join our fabrication team. This hybrid position plays a key role in both drafting precise shop drawings and managing material procurement for our steel fabrication operations.

The ideal candidate will produce accurate drawings for miscellaneous steel components and coordinate the purchasing of raw materials to meet fabrication schedules and budgetary goals.

Key Responsibilities

Detailing / Drafting

  • Prepare 2D and 3D shop drawings using AutoCAD software based on previous designs, architectural, and structural plans.
  • Develop accurate cut lists, material takeoffs, and fabrication details for shop use.
  • Review drawings for compliance with project specifications, building codes, and fabrication standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, shop foreman, fabricators and installation crews to ensure drawing accuracy and project efficiency.
  • Update and maintain drawing files and revision histories.

Purchasing / Materials

  • Generate material lists from approved shop drawings.
  • Source and order raw materials (steel, hardware, consumables) from suppliers.
  • Evaluate vendor pricing to ensure cost-effective purchasing. 
  • Coordinate with Shop Forman to meet fabrication timelines and based on customer needs and shop capacity.
  • Track material usage and maintain basic inventory of frequently used items.
  • Work with foreman to resolve delivery or quality issues.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, job site variables).
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs (frequently up to 50 lbs).
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach as part of daily duties.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, extended hours (8–12 hours), and weekends as required.
  • Strong vision, stamina, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must pass a background check.

Certificates and Licenses

  • Current CPR/AED certification. (required)
  • OSHA 30-hour certification. (required)
  • Degree or background in Drafting and/or Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
