Events and Permitting Specialist
The Saint Paul Police Department is hiring an Events and Permitting Specialist!
This position performs highly responsible professional work in the Special Operations Unit of the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD), providing administrative, analytical, and management support for internal services, such as event planning and permitting and coordinating department technology services.
Here's what you can expect to do:
- Leads Permit Committee and meeting activities.
- Organizes, tracks, monitors, and coordinates workflows and manages planning processes for Special Events citywide.
- Reviews permits and plans; coordinates, approves, and helps execute community events to ensure compliance with state statute, city ordinance, and law enforcement best practice.
- Uploads and manages data, receives and processes payments, monitors budget, manages communication, and schedules meetings and activities.
- Provides special project coordination and support, including software installation and training.
- Acts as subject matter expert on variety of SPPD systems, such as Smartsheet and Everbridge.
- Manages access and develops workflows for various systems.
- Manages email related data practice requests, vets email content that meets query guidelines, redacts appropriate data and final release.
- Provides orientation, coaching, and training to internal and external staff as needed.
- Administratively supports Special Operations Unit command staff, managing public facing calendars.

This position is with the Saint Paul Police Department, and will work in office Monday through Friday.

Position Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Education, Urban Planning, Information Systems, Management, Business Management, or a closely related field and four years of relevant project and management support experience including; research, collection, compilation, and assessment of data, program support/planning, or equivalent experience. Acceptable related degrees may be specified by the requirements of each hiring department.
This position requires possession of a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out of state driver's license.
A combination of education and experience to equal eight (8) years or more can be used to qualify for the position.
