Key Responsibilities
Digital Education Initiatives
- Collaborate with staff to design and produce companion digital content for the Museum’s exhibit on Research Triangle Park, including exhibit website, activity sheets, and media-rich features for teachers and students.
- Adapt existing in-gallery content into accessible digital formats for remote learners and general audiences.
- Assist in the creation of interactive materials for the Museum’s website, such as timelines, video interviews, and map-based learning tools.
- Research historical sources, media, and visuals to support content accuracy and engagement.
- Contribute to the Museum’s overall outreach strategy by helping ensure that educational materials are inclusive, engaging, and user-friendly.
- Develop online educational modules that align with North Carolina curriculum standards and emphasize STEM, innovation, and local history themes.
Group Visits
- Work with educators to schedule visits and effectively communicate information about content and logistics.
- Promote visitation within the Durham community to groups such as youth clubs, senior organizations, philanthropic organizations, businesses, churches, etc.
- Develop new programs based on museum exhibits and current events.
- Create adaptable classroom resources and hands-on activities that align with current museum exhibitions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or experience in education, history, museum studies, digital media, or instructional design.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with curriculum development or lesson planning (K–12 focus a plus).
- Comfort working with digital tools such as Google Suite, Canva, Wordpress, and website content management systems (training provided if needed).
- Creative mindset and interest in making history engaging and accessible to a broad audience.
