Herbein + Company, Inc. is actively seeking a Tax Intern for Spring 2026 (January thru April 2026) to work 25 hours per week, with flexible hours to work around your school schedule. You will receive training, generous pay, the opportunity to work with experienced professionals and gain valuable hands-on experience and insight into the public accounting world. Internship opportunities are available in the following locations: Allentown, Reading, Spring House, Warrendale.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Tax Preparation - Enter financial data, organize tax documents, and assist in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns.
  • Team Collaboration - Participate in team meetings and communicate professionally with colleagues.
  • Time Management - Balance multiple assignments and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines during our busiest times.
  • Professional Growth - Learn the ropes of office etiquette, problem-solving, and attention to detail while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
  • Confidentiality - Handle sensitive client information with care, maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Critical Thinking - Apply accounting principles to real-world scenarios and develop your critical thinking skills.

Requirements

 

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related area of study as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Prior accounting internship experience in tax or audit
  • Completed or currently enrolled in relevant tax coursework
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must exercise complete confidentiality
  • Adept at meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail focused and driven to achieve high standards
  • Ability to work additional and non-traditional hours as required to meet client requirements
