Arts Programming Internship - Dept. of Planning, Building & Development
This Art Programming Internship involves assisting with the planning and execution of art-related programs and installations, community-focused art projects and events, and other creative placemaking efforts in East Lansing and at (SCENE) Metrospace.
This position will work under the direction of Community and Economic Development Department staff to assist in developing and implementing arts related events throughout the community as well as the programming at (SCENE) Metrospace. The hours will vary weekly and average approximately 12-20 hours per week. Due to the nature of this position, individuals must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with exhibition preparation, installation, and de-installation of exhibitions at (SCENE) Metrospace and other programs downtown; including the Rotating Art Program, K-12 student art pop up exhibit, and MSU Art and Design fraternity collaboration.
• Engage with visitors at (SCENE) Metrospace, community members, student groups, and businesses within East Lansing.
• Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating activities, workshops, outreach activities and events.
• Inspection and ongoing maintenance of artwork located throughout the City.
• Assist in the development and dissemination of promotional materials, provide photos and material for social media account and engage with the public.
• Assist with programming and activities.
• Execute data collection activities.
Must have:
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with event planning or program administration is a plus.
• Desire to learn and contribute to a dynamic art environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Other duties as assigned; evening and weekend hours required.
REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preference for those pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in a related discipline.
