Position: Voter Protection Fellow
Location: New York City, In-person
Stipend: $16/hr
Start Date: September 3rd, 2025
End Date: November 15th, 2025
About NY Dems Voter Protection: The NY Dems Voter Protection Team is committed to safeguarding the democratic rights of voters across New York State by ensuring smooth and fair elections, addressing voting concerns, and providing accurate and up-to-date voting information.
Job Description: The NY Dems Voter Protection Team seeks a talented fellow to assist with programming, communications, and special projects. In this role, fellows will play an active role in building and sustaining year-round voter protection infrastructure, helping to strengthen civic engagement throughout the state. The voter protection fellowship program will be conducted in person at the New York State Democratic Committee headquarters in New York City.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of voter information guides, newsletters, and other voter education materials and resources.
- Support the Voter Protection Team with planning and executing programming.
- Assist with volunteer recruitment, training, management, and general administrative tasks.
- Assist with special research and writing projects as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficiency with social media and other digital advertising tools.
- Experience with coordinating, planning, and executing events.
- Ability to manage multiple projects requiring exceptional organization and versatility.
- Ability to problem solve independently, but not afraid to ask for help or clarification.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Culturally competent and able to lead with empathy.
- A firm understanding of voter suppression’s disproportionate impact on communities of color and limited English proficiency voters with a demonstrated commitment to upholding democratic principles and protecting voters' rights.
- Experience with Google Workspace, Canva, VAN/Votebuilder is a plus, but is not required.
