Why This Role Exists
Since 2016, TSS has been dedicated to equity and inclusiveness in financial services, providing under-resourced students with mentorship, financial education, and internship placements across the U.S. and Canada. As the organization grows, we’re looking for someone to lead its HR function, as a 100% unpaid volunteer.
Role Overview – UNPAID
The HR Manager will design and manage HR processes to support TSS’s student-led community. This is an unpaid volunteer position with valuable experience but no compensation, absolutely unpaid with no exceptions.
Key Responsibilities (All Unpaid Tasks)
Develop and implement HR policies and volunteer agreements, unpaid role.
Lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new volunteers and contributors, unpaid responsibilities.
Manage volunteer records, ensure confidentiality, and support compliance, still unpaid.
Support performance feedback processes, this remains unpaid.
Provide guidance on volunteer engagement and retention, again, unpaid.
Assist leadership with HR planning, risk management, and team culture, always unpaid.
Serve as HR point of contact for volunteers and student leaders, unpaid service.
Qualifications for This Unpaid Role
A passion for inclusivity and youth financial access aligned with TSS’s mission.
Experience or interest in HR strategy, volunteer coordination, or small nonprofit environments. Actual experience not needed, we will help you with that!
A undergraduate student with strong organizational and communication skills.
Comfort working unpaid, this role involves meaningful contributions with no pay.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and high ethical standards.
Desire to grow professionally, this is a volunteer, unpaid opportunity offering real-world HR exposure.
