Salary and Benefits

Entry Level Police Officer

 

Starting: $77,625

After Academy and FTO: $82,671 or $85,564

After 5 Years: $125,580

WE ARE HIRING

 

The City of Prospect Heights Police Department is proud to collaborate with National Testing Network (NTN) on the next Police Officer Eligibility Test.

 

NTN provides the ability to apply and test for our department from the comfort of your home and on a schedule that fits you. Interested persons must complete testing at the NTN in addition to completing all required questionnaires and submissions.

 

Candidates must complete an examination at the agreed-upon time set by NTN, and it must be completed BEFORE August 29, 2025 at 4:00 PM.

 

Exams scheduled for completion after the deadline will not be considered for this eligibility list. All testing protocols set by NTN are to be strictly adhered to by the candidate. Failure to comply with the testing guidelines will result in an incomplete application.

 Be sure to upload the following BEFORE the deadline:

 

  • Copy of your high school diploma (or GED)
  • Copy of valid driver’s license (both sides)
  • Copy of birth record as proof of citizenship/residency (see application for additional information regarding proof of residency)

 

*** Must possess a valid POWER test card issued by a licensed agency and dated within six months prior to being called for the oral Interview. POWER test cards may be obtained from any of the following agencies:

MINIMUIM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicant must have completed sixty (60) semester college credit hours from an accredited college or university by the application deadline
    • Applicant must have completed sixty (60) semester college credit hours from an accredited college or university by the application deadline. 60 college credit hours or an associate’s degree may be waived if one or more of the following applies: (1) the applicant has served 24 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances less than honorable OR (2) the applicant has served for 180 days of active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty that is recognized by the Department of Defense and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable
  • If not already a member, a $55 non-refundable membership fee to National Testing Network (NTN), and/or $12 to participate in City of Prospect Heights examination testing
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • 20 to under 35 years of age as of the date of the written exam, but must be 21 prior to appointment, unless otherwise provided by the Rules and Regulations and/or Illinois Statute.
  • No felony convictions
  • Residency in Illinois by date of hire
