Job Summary
- The Operations Intern will use continuous improvement concepts to identify manufacturing standards, best practices, and work with other business functions to maximize performance. This person will also assist in ensuring that all products and processes meet quality standards while working with department leaders. This internship will be heavily project based. The project will be operations in nature and will align with the company’s biggest operational initiative for the summer.
Work Responsibilities & Duties
- Contribute and lead special projects. This would include conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing presentations.
- Assist with daily operations by supporting day-to-day operational activities including data entry, report generations, and process documentation.
- Identify and recommend improvements to existing processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Work with different departments to understand their operational needs and assist with coordinating inter-departmental initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must be a sophomore or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, data science, business/management quantitative methods, mechanical drafting/CAD technology, mechanical engineering, or related field.
Preferred Skills and Expectations
- Experience in Production Scheduling, warehousing, or ERP systems.
- Strong Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with computers/software, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position may require occasional standing, lifting, and carrying. Frequent sitting, standing from a seated position, use of hands and arms for handling, feeling, or operating objects, tools, or controls, and use of foot controls are also necessary. Occasional climbing of ladders, crouching, kneeling, bending, precise hand movements, keyboard use, pushing, pulling, and reaching above shoulder level are required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment for this position is frequently indoors. This means your daily tasks will be performed in an office setting or similarly controlled environment. This position may include occasional exposure to heavy machinery. Occasional noise levels may occur.

• No travel is required for this position.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• While travel within Storm Lake is self-managed, housing assistance is available for candidates relocating to Storm Lake.
