Job Summary
The Training and Development Intern will support the Human Resources and Sales team in designing and refining onboarding and training programs for new and current sales employees and other high-impact roles. This role offers hands-on experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Marketing, and IT teams.
Work Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist in developing structured onboarding and training modules for new sales hires.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify learning objectives and content needs for other critical roles.
- Support the creation of digital and in-person training materials, including presentations, manuals, and e-learning content.
- Conduct research on best practices in adult learning and training delivery.
- Help evaluate the effectiveness of current training programs and recommend improvements.
- Participate in pilot sessions and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Maintain documentation and version control of training assets.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must be a sophomore or higher pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business/Management, Education, Organizational Development, or related field.
Preferred Skills and Expectations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with instructional design principles and learning management systems (LMS) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint and Word).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
Physical Demands
This position requires performing tasks that involve constant sitting and keyboarding. This means you'll be working at a computer for extended periods, so maintaining good posture and taking regular breaks to stretch and move around will be important.
Working Conditions
The work environment for this position is consistently indoors. This means your daily tasks will be performed in an office setting or similarly controlled environment.
Additional Notes
• No travel is required for this position.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• While travel within Storm Lake is self-managed, housing assistance is available for candidates relocating to Storm Lake.
