Sustainability & Storytelling Internship
To expand WWOOF-USA’s reach and inspire the next generation of change-makers, we’re launching a fall Sustainability & Storytelling Internship program designed to engage five passionate students in building awareness for WWOOF through storytelling, outreach, and creative content.
College students comprise over 60% of WWOOF-USA’s membership - and they’re some of our most enthusiastic supporters. This internship empowers student members and alumni to become on-campus ambassadors, combining their love of WWOOF with outreach, writing, and content creation to help others discover the life-changing possibilities of WWOOFing.
Duration: September 8 – November 14, 2025 (10 weeks)
Location: Remote + On campus
Compensation: $2,000 USD
Responsibilities
- Each intern will complete a variety of outreach and storytelling activities throughout the fall semester, including:
- Represent WWOOF at at least three campus tabling events
- Organize and lead three presentations to classes or club groups on WWOOF-USA
- Build a mailing list of 100+ interested students who want to stay in the loop about WWOOF opportunities.
- Establish one or more ongoing connection with a student club, academic department, or sustainability center for future collaboration and schedule a meeting(s) that includes WWOOF staff
- Submit five pieces of content for WWOOF-USA to use on social media channels
- Have content published in at least one school publication (e.g., article, blog post, testimonial, social media video, or podcast episode)
- Share five pieces of WWOOF content on personal and campus-related channels
- Capture and submit photo/video highlights from at least two events or presentations for use on WWOOF’s social platforms and promotional materials.
- Use a personalized affiliate code to promote WWOOF and track new memberships
- Submit a final reflection and feedback form
Requirements
We’re looking for passionate, self-motivated students who are excited to help others discover WWOOF. Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student at a U.S.-based college or university
- Previous WWOOF experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups and engaging peers on campus
- Able to commit 5 hours per week for 10 weeks from September to November 2025
- Active presence on social media and/or experience creating content (photo, video, writing captions)
- Access to campus events and the ability to organize in-person outreach
- Reliable internet access
