Part-Time After-School Coach

Proehlific Park is looking for part-time after-school coaches who are self-motivated individuals to lead diverse recreation activities and support the character development of our K-8 youth. 

Proehlific Park is a premier sports and fitness complex in Greensboro, NC. Facilities include three basketball courts, a baseball field, outdoor soccer fields, indoor turf, a playground, and an adult fitness center. Interested individuals should possess a love for recreation, children, and leadership. Coaches are responsible for ensuring the safety of each participant, modeling an inclusive and welcoming environment, leading engaging activities as provided by the director, carrying out behavior modification plans, providing conflict management, assisting participants with homework, cleaning one’s pre-assigned areas at the end of the day, and respecting both the facility and the equipment utilized throughout the day. Individuals must be able to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in both indoor and outdoor settings. Coaches should be willing to think creatively, be flexible, and be responsive to both the needs of the Youth Program Director and the youth participants. 
 

Duties and responsibilities include the following: 

• Assisting students during homework and snack time.
• Leading diverse recreation activities and creating new activities when needed.
• Observing and monitoring youth participants to ensure their continued safety.
• Implementing behavior modification plans are provided by the Youth Program Director.
• Providing conflict management between youth participants.
• Being sensitive to the diverse needs and abilities of participants and offering support when needed.
• Adhering to scheduling and other assignments as indicated by the Youth Program Director.
• Notifying the Youth Program Director of any conflicts in scheduling or attendance.
• Be responsive to the requests and direction of the Youth Program Director.
• Representing Proehlific Park in a professional manner.

The pay for this position is $10 an hour with an opportunity to advance through positive performance appraisals and a willingness to accept greater leadership roles. After-school hours occur Monday-Friday from 2:00 pm 6:30 pm.

Additional hours are occasionally gained from drop-in days occurring 7:30 am-6:30 pm.If hired, must undergo a background check.
