Project Engineer Co-op

 

This Co-op opportunity will explore an entry level position of a Project Engineer.  The following job description will provide details of the Co-op role. 

 

JOB SUMMARY:    This position provides technical support to construction staff under   the supervision of the Project Manager. The Project Engineer reviews plans and other technical documents and oversees construction progress and scheduling. The Project Engineer is also responsible for monitoring costs and project progress. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Understanding of the main principles of engineering, construction and architecture
  2. Analytical, mathematical and advanced MS Office skills
  3. Aptitude for working collaboratively with teams on projects
  4. Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  6. High level of professionalism and motivation
  7. Excellent attention to detail

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.   Reviews project plans and proposals, then works with management to develop 

      project objectives. 

2.   Manages the organization and distribution of construction documents.       

3.   Assesses the project schedule alongside the Project Manager to avoid cost impacts 

      and schedule delays        

4.   Works alongside Estimation and Purchasing Manager, other Project Engineers, 

      Superintendents, Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers on all aspects of 

      project. 

5.   Maintains constant communication with team to ensure that everything is going 

      according to time and budget restrictions         

6.   Assure all deadlines are being met 

7.   Maintain knowledge on all contract terms and legal requirements for all construction

      Projects to avoid any delay in projects.

8.  Provide support to all work groups to ensure completion of projects.
