Primary Function:
The Bilingual Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality science instruction in both English and Spanish, supporting the academic success of multilingual learners. Working under the supervision of the Building Principal and administrative team, this role provides individualized and culturally responsive instruction tailored to each student’s needs, interests, and aspirations. Teachers are expected to collaborate with colleagues, engage families, and contribute to school-wide goals and instructional improvement.
Qualifications:
Licensure:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
Endorsed in Science 9–12 and Bilingual – Spanish
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field
Experience:
Required: Two (2) years of successful teaching experience with a diverse student population
Preferred: Four (4) years of experience in an urban school setting, working with multilingual learners
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide science instruction in a bilingual (Spanish/English) setting that aligns with district curriculum and state standards
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English Language Learners (ELLs) and diverse learners
Create a classroom environment conducive to academic success, inclusion, and student engagement
Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and administrators to support student progress and departmental goals
Maintain ongoing communication with families to support student learning and build strong school-home partnerships
Supervise students in accordance with school and district policies
Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of instructional programs
Contribute to the evaluation and revision of policies and practices impacting instructional programming
