Asian Grocery store General Manager

Job Title: General Manager – Asian Grocery Supermarket

Schedule: 55–60 Hours/Week
Salary: $80,000+ annually depending on experience]

Pan-Asia Supermarket currently operates 7 stores across Midwest states. We are a full-service Asian grocery supermarket offering a wide range of fresh produce, meat & seafood, dry goods, and ready-to-eat meals. Our mission is to serve the community with authentic products, friendly service, and a clean, well-organized shopping environment. We are looking for an experienced and energetic General Manager to oversee daily operations and assist store manager to lead our team to excellence.

Job Summary:

The Store Manager is responsible for managing overall store performance including sales, customer service, staffing, inventory control, merchandising, and compliance. The ideal candidate has prior experience in high-volume grocery or retail management—especially within Asian supermarkets—and can lead by example in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and motivate department managers and staff across all store sections (produce, meat, seafood, grocery, hot food, cashier, etc.)
  • Ensure outstanding customer service, product availability, cleanliness, and store presentation
  • Plan and manage staff schedules and payroll efficiently
  • Monitor and control inventory, shrink, and ordering to ensure proper stock levels and minimal waste
  • Analyze sales trends and implement strategies to increase profitability and reduce costs
  • Ensure compliance with health department, OSHA, and company policies
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Train staff on safety, operational procedures, and company policies
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers on product delivery, pricing, and promotional activity
  • Report directly to store manager and provide store performance updates

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of grocery or retail store management experience (Asian supermarket preferred)
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Fluency in English required; knowledge of an Asian language (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc.) preferred
  • Strong understanding of perishable inventory management and department operations
  • Proficient in POS systems, Microsoft Excel, and inventory software
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
