Under the direction of the Prison Industries Superintendent II (Maintenance & Repair), this position is responsible for necessary maintenance and repair at all CALPIA enterprises. The incumbent in this position will maintain facilities, perform the required work as needed at each enterprise as well as utilize incarcerated individual workers when possible in the factory maintenance functions at CALPIA enterprises. Employees will have regular and substantial contact with persons incarcerated in California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation institution and/or medical facilities.
CALPIA (Maintenance & Repair) program is designed to meet California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) institutional needs statewide. You will train and mentor incarcerated individuals who will gain knowledge and skills needed to meet the highest possible standards for (Maintenance & Repair) and increase one’s chances for employment opportunities upon release.

Desirable Qualifications

- Electrical experience: troubleshooting, wiring, reading diagrams, and simple programming.
- Mechanical skills: production equipment, industrial equipment repair, tool repair, and vehicle repair.
- Welding, plumbing, and pneumatics experience.
- Boiler/Steam line and refrigeration experience.
- Construction experience; concrete, tile, wood, and metal, etc.
- Preventive maintenance and repair experience of industrial, production, and correctional commercial properties.
- CALPIA experience; IIPP, SDS protocol, Health & Safety, OSHA reporting.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience managing workorder platforms or software to prioritize, plan, and track repairs.
