2026 BOLT Intern - Field Environmental Services (FES) - (OSG)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

A Field Environmental Services (FES) intern will contribute to the FES and Engineering departments and will learn the coordinated efforts required between different specialties to manage the environmental compliance obligations of our major engineering projects. At the end of the BOLT internship, the intern will be required to present a summary of their summer to the management of the department. This will be an opportunity for the intern to demonstrate what they have learned throughout their internship and provide insight on their experience to senior business leaders and key stakeholders.

The internship opportunities will be focused in one or more of the following areas:

  • Federal and State environmental regulatory compliance for construction, operations, and maintenance related activities and processes, related to the management of non-hazardous waste, RCRA hazardous waste, TENORM waste, Mixed Waste, and Universal Waste. This may include coordinating waste disposal options, facilitating waste pickups by contractors, or providing technical guidance to facility personnel on the proper management of wastes.
  • Pipeline waste management involves identifying approaches to provide cost-effective and environmentally compliant solutions that support existing pipeline operations and integrity management projects. This involves identifying strategies that can integrate pollution prevention, reclamation, recycling, and disposal opportunities, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance and cost savings.
  • Project Management/Coordination involving the ability to coordinate to support multiple projects and/or simultaneously organize necessary resources, including people, contractors, and time to meet tight deadlines and achieve desired results, while fostering positive relationships with colleagues from multiple departments, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Stormwater and wastewater management efforts related to optimizing water and wastewater treatment system utilization to align with pipeline and fuel terminal operations, regulatory requirements, and financial considerations. This may include evaluating a variety of potential processes and technologies to increase performance, reliability, efficiency or cost effectiveness.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working towards Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, chemistry, or environmental sciences preferred.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams of people, either during school, work, or personal life - candidate must describe in detail during the interview
  • Self-motivated and driven, with demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Ability to speak publicly in front of groups
  • Ability to function effectively in both a team and individual environment
  • Attention to detail and strong computer skills are essential
  • Driven to discover and determined to deliver
  • Open to travel in the United States
  • Houston Headquarters Work Location
