About Cork Potential – Our Internship Program
Cork Potential is ACS’s flagship internship program, designed to challenge and inspire final-year students and recent graduates through real-world business problems. Over the course of 5 months, each intern will be assigned a strategic project that directly addresses a key need within the company.
The program includes:
- A dedicated project supervisor
- Monthly follow-up meetings to track progress
- A final Pitch Day, where interns present their solutions to a panel of senior leaders
The winning intern will receive a $1,000 scholarship to invest in further training or education.
Outstanding performance may lead to an employment offer at ACS.
Proposed Problem
As part of our ongoing focus on operational excellence and environmental responsibility, there is an opportunity to further optimize and standardize packaging practices across the organization. Improving visibility over packaging usage and aligning processes with cost-efficiency and sustainability goals will support a more integrated and data-informed approach to material consumption.
Project & Main Objectives
The intern will lead a cross-functional project focused on analyzing current packaging practices and identifying improvement opportunities. The key objectives of this project include:
- Reducing packaging costs through improved process efficiency
- Minimizing material waste across operations
- Supporting the company's sustainability goals by recommending eco-friendly packaging alternatives
- Standardizing packaging processes to improve control and consistency
Key Expected Results
- A complete value stream mapping of current packaging practices
- A comprehensive material assessment identifying gaps and areas for improvement
- Strategic proposals to reduce packaging costs and material waste
- Concrete actions to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency

Candidate Requirements
We are looking for a motivated and analytical intern with a passion for continuous improvement and sustainable operations.
Academic Background:
- Final-year student or recent graduate in Engineering or a related technical field
IT Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to structure and analyze operational data
Other Skills:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to plan, analyze, and think critically
- A structured, solution-oriented mindset and a proactive attitude
