
2026 Capital Markets Summer Intern - Investment Grade Sales & Trading
What you’ll do
Our 10-week paid internship will provide you with the foundation to become a financial market specialist while working in a dynamic and supportive team environment. You will receive accelerated learning and skill development through a mix of on-the-job training, mentorship, a community of peers and advisors, and a pathway to our full-time Capital Markets Development Program upon graduation.
Sales and Trading Role:
Our Investment Grade Sales and Trading team complements the bank’s Debt Capital Markets team by maintaining liquidity in the secondary markets for publicly issued investment grade deals and helping the team place new issue securities into investors. Our team consists of over twenty professionals in various capacities including sales, trading, quantitative analysis and credit analysis. Our program will help you develop a solid foundation in financial markets, take part in the process of helping clients execute complex transactions, and work in a dynamic team.

Roles and Responsibilities
Summer analysts directly support professionals in their client coverage and deal execution efforts:
Assist traders with market analysis
Build tools to help traders deliver more accurate pricing
Monitor the trading desk’s risk and positioning
Provide market commentary to broader internal team members.
Build a supportive community of peers through a variety of cohort strengthening activities such as social events, development workshops, and catered insight to support your transition from college to the workforce

We’re looking for intellectually curious and creative thinkers who can think on their feet and thoughtfully react to a changing market.
Basic qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, or a related field with a target graduation of December 2026 or spring 2027
Ability to start the internship program on June 1, 2026
Preferred qualifications:
Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
Proficiency in Excel and Python
Demonstrates an interest in capital markets
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints
Self-motivated with a keen desire to learn and contribute within a dynamic team environment
Well-developed analytical skills
Intellectual curiosity

Working model and hours:
This role is hybrid. Interns who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at the listed U.S. Bank location(s), while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days. Interns work approximately 40-hours each week during the internship.
