- ~ 2 to 5 hours per week dependent on intern’s needs (academic, etc.)
- Hybrid (flexible schedule with some in-office work in the downtown Boise office)

Organization Description
Idaho Head Start Association (IHSA) supports Head Start programs through Advocacy, Partnerships, Collaboration, Recognition, and Professional Development to achieve high quality outcomes for Idaho’s children, families and communities. It is a membership organization, providing member benefits to its members, the thirteen Head Start programs in Idaho. IHSA does not provide direct services to Head Start children and families.
IHSA is a statewide organization composed of representatives from Head Start, Early Head Start, Migrant & Seasonal Head Start, and American Indian & Alaskan Native Head Start. The association was incorporated as nonprofit organization in 1995.
Head Start has been a federally funded program since 1965, providing no-cost early childhood education, health screening, workforce development, and other wrap-around services to children and their families aged 0-5.
Internship Description and Responsibilities
This position includes a $500 stipend to be paid upon completion of the primary project deliverables. The Programs & Development Intern will work under the supervision of the Executive Director to increase the capacity of the organization. Duties may be flexible dependent on intern’s interests and/or skill set with the exception of the primary project deliverables.
- Primary Project: Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and implement an IHSA Development Plan, inspiring philanthropy and support
- Prospect research
- Fundraising event planning
- Idaho Gives campaign management
- Other related duties as assigned
- Annual IHSA Conference: Collaborate with the Executive Director in planning and executing the annual statewide conference. This involves logistics management, volunteer management, day-of coordination, and other related duties
- Other IHSA program projects as assigned and agreed upon based on Intern’s interests
- Policy advocacy
- Marketing & communications
- Operations & administration
- Board of Directors and Member Meetings support
- Coalition and committee work
Requirements and experience (Preferred but not required)
- Preference given to Head Start Alumni
- Desire to explore nonprofit sector work
- Ability to excel at remote work
- Ability to work independently
- Strong writing, spelling, and grammar skills
- Effective communication skills - responds to text and email quickly and thoroughly
- Junior in college or higher
- Proficiency in Canva and or Hootesuite
- Interest in social media and other communications
- Ability to confidently engage with community members
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Passion for helping Idaho youth and parents succeed
- Reliable internet connection for remote work; IHSA office will be available as well
