Quality Control Internship

About Cork Potential – Our Internship Program

Cork Potential is ACS’s flagship internship program, designed to challenge and inspire final-year students and recent graduates through real-world business problems. Over the course of 5 months, each intern will be assigned a strategic project that directly addresses a key need within the company.

The program includes:

  • A dedicated project supervisor
  • Monthly follow-up meetings to track progress
  • A final Pitch Day, where interns present their solutions to a panel of senior leaders

The winning intern will receive a $1,000 scholarship to invest in further training or education.
Outstanding performance may lead to an employment offer at ACS.

 

Proposed Problem

As Amorim Cork Solutions continues to evolve through innovation and digital transformation, there is an opportunity to modernize and harmonize quality control processes. Enhancing standardization and integrating digital tools will ensure greater traceability, efficiency, and accessibility across the production and quality assurance lifecycle.

 

Project & Main Objectives

The intern will play a key role in the digital transformation of our Quality Department by contributing to the development of a more integrated and standardized control system. The core objectives include:

  1. Updating the computer infrastructure and data systems used in the laboratory
  2. Reviewing and organizing the certification database
  3. Designing a control flow system that follows the full production journey of each product
  4. Standardizing testing procedures across quality control checkpoints

  • A streamlined and user-friendly quality control system accessible to relevant stakeholders across departments
  • A structured and updated certification database
  • A clearly defined and documented control flow from raw material to finished product
  • Harmonized quality testing procedures that support consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement

 

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for a proactive and technically minded intern eager to contribute to digitalization and process excellence in a production environment.

Academic Background:

  • Final-year student or recent graduate in Process Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field

IT Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Programming or scripting experience is a strong plus (e.g., ability to write code logic for automation or system design)
  • Familiarity with data structuring and system logic design

Other Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Positive attitude and adaptability
  • Willingness to support secondary tasks as part of a team-oriented environment
