Student Office Assistant
Job Description:
The Student Office Assistant supports daily administrative operations, marketing efforts, and student recruitment for the Political Science Department. The student worker will serve as the first point of contact in the department's front office, and assist with various tasks related to marketing and communication, student recruitment, departmental outreach, and social media.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be currently enrolled students at UNI and in good academic standing.

Department Secretary
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of word processing software (Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools
- Ability to think creatively, strategically, solve problems, and work independently
- Professional demeanor, punctuality, and confidentiality are expected
Preferred Qualification:
- Work, classroom, or extracurricular experience in marketing, communications, and/or digital/social media is preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
Front Office Support (25%)
- Greet visitors, students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner, and direct them accordingly
- Answer phone calls and take messages as needed
- Collect, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail or deliveries
- Assist faculty and staff with photocopying, scanning, and other office tasks
Student Recruitment & Marketing (75%)
- Monitor daily activity of prospects and applicants in Political Science and Criminology programs using Salesforce CRM software
- Communicate with inquiries, prospects, and applicants as assigned. Facilitate departmental outreach by contacting prospective students via phone, email, or mail.
- Assist in creating and preparing marketing and communication materials for mass marketing campaigns
- Develop and implement scheduled content for social media
This position may be appropriate for internship credit, depending on the student's major. Students interested in internship credit should consult their department's internship coordinator.
