Construction Manager

Overview
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Construction Manager to oversee residential construction projects from pre-construction through final walkthrough. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with strong field leadership, communication, and organizational skills. This role requires a proactive approach to managing subcontractors, ensuring schedule compliance, quality assurance, and budget control across multiple projects. The Construction Manager will play a key role in delivering exceptional homes that meet our company’s high standards.

Responsibilities

Pre-Construction
● Review and interpret construction drawings to identify potential issues, missing information, or areas for simplification.
● Evaluate scopes of work for all trades based on plans and specifications.
● Review subcontractor and supplier bids, comparing them to scopes of work to ensure completeness and accuracy.
● Review and provide feedback on project budgets.
● Attend and participate in Pre-Construction meetings, signing off on all required steps.

Construction
● Provide daily leadership and oversight of subcontractors and vendors to maintain adherence to plans, schedules, and budgets.
● Proactively schedule and visit job sites, creating daily schedules in advance.
● Communicate consistently with the Project Manager and Builder Assistant using project schedules as the primary communication tool.
● Write and manage RFIs with the Owner, proposing solutions to challenges that impact schedule and budget, and assist with timely, well-informed change orders.
● Maintain a forward-looking approach to construction schedules, anticipating issues and coordinating activity from three weeks out to completion.
● Ensure all subcontractors and suppliers remain on schedule and in compliance with contracts and codes.
● Assign daily tasks to in-house crew as needed.
● Approve contractor invoices based on completeness and quality during weekly production meetings.
● Collaborate with PM to price change orders, including both material and labor costs.
● Schedule and attend all required inspections.
● Join the Project Manager for all key Owner walkthroughs.
● Communicate delivery needs for pre-procured items to the Builder Assistant.
● Lead weekly production meetings with the PM and Owner.
● Participate in monthly planning meetings with the PM, Owner, and Crew Lead.

Qualifications
● Demonstrated commitment to quality assurance and construction excellence.
● Proven ability to lead, plan, and coordinate multiple residential construction projects simultaneously (13–20 projects).
● Strong communication skills and proactive problem-solving mindset.
● Ability to interpret and apply construction drawings, codes, and scopes of work.
● Experience with project schedules, budget tracking, and change order processes.
● Willingness to invest leadership, time, and energy to ensure the success of each project.
● Hands-on, field-based management experience strongly preferred.
