Overview:
Join Pro-Passion Projects’ Medical & Public Health Internship in Accra, Ghana and gain practical exposure to healthcare practices in hospital and community settings. Interns are placed at either Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital or LEKMA Polyclinic and participate in structured community outreach programs, acquiring hands-on skills in patient care, public health education, and preventive medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Hospital Observations:
  • Observe medical practitioners as they diagnose and treat patients
  • Assist with minor tasks under supervision
  • Gain exposure to professional healthcare practices
  1. Community Outreach:
  • Participate in outreach programs twice a week
  • Engage in hands-on activities: dressing wounds, checking BMI, measuring blood pressure, and malaria testing
  • Educate and advise community members on health issues under supervision
  1. Health Education:
  • Plan and implement health education workshops
  • Collaborate with local health workers to address community-specific health concerns
  1. Support & Administration:
  • Assist with patient care administration and medical record organization
  • Support the medical team with organizational tasks

Program Duration & Fee:

  • 2-week program: $1,200 USD
  • Additional week: $300 USD per week
    (Fee includes accommodation, meals, in-country transport, orientation, mentorship, and all cultural & social activities.)

Included Experiences & Activities:

  • Cultural immersion: African drumming & dance lessons, cooking classes, local language lessons
  • Accra city tours: Explore Cape Coast Castle, National Museum, Arts Center, and more
  • Professional exposure: Network with healthcare professionals and policymakers
  • Certificate & Reference Letter: Issued upon request, demonstrating completion and hands-on public health work, including pro bono experience

Working Hours:
