Communications, Marketing and Social Media Intern

The Nathaniel H. Pickett II Foundation (NHPII) is a nonpartisan, social justice, and community service-based nonprofit. It was founded by Ms. Dominic Archibald in memory of her son, Nathaniel “Nate” H. Pickett II, who was killed by a Sheriff’s Deputy in 2015 in San Bernardino, California. Nate was unarmed and had committed no crime—facts confirmed during a 2018 civil trial. NHPII is committed to fighting against injustice, educating, and serving the community. 

We invite you to be part of that mission. This internship offers hands-on learning in nonprofit communications, public engagement, and digital outreach—including email marketing, media relations, graphic design, blog content creation, and social media content development.

Required Skills & Experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and time management
• Ability to prioritize and adapt to shifting tasks
• Passion for social justice and community advocacy
• Professional demeanor and a collaborative mindset 

•Demonstrated ability to use design/video editing tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, InShot, or similar for dynamic content creation
• Understanding of current social media trends and platform algorithms
 

Ideal Candidate
• Undergraduate or graduate student studying Communications, PR, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Arts,
or a related field (other majors will be considered)
• Minimum GPA of 2.95
• Experience managing or growing a personal or organizational social media presence is a plus
 

Internship Details
• Remote/Virtual with flexible work hours based on project completion
• Monthly stipend of $350 for approximately 20–25 hours/month
• May be eligible for college credit (case-by-case) and professional development
• Opportunities for paid travel and access to courses or events relevant to career advancement
