Operations Associate and Internship Programs Coordinator
Position Summary: Project Horseshoe Farm is seeking a talented, mission and service-oriented early-career professional to join our core staff as a Operations Associate and Internship Programs Coordinator. The Associate will work closely with the Assistant Director and organizational leadership to support daily operations, assist with service programs, and help guide, teach, and support students and interns in community health and service roles. The role blends hands-on nonprofit operations with opportunities to provide mentorship, teaching, and student supervision, all within the context of relationship-centered community health. This is an excellent early-career opportunity for individuals aspiring to leadership roles in service, nonprofit work, community health, public health, social entrepreneurship, education, or related fields.
Key Responsibilities: Work closely with and assist Assistant Director and Leadership Team to:
- Assist with onboarding, training, teaching, supervision, and development of interns, college students, and high school students participating in Horseshoe Farm’s innovative experiential learning programs.
- Help build and maintain relationships with high schools, colleges/universities, graduate and professional schools including those focused on medicine and allied health.
- Help oversee core operational functions of the organization, including budgeting and finances, fundraising and development, community and partner relations, facilities and space management, insurance, technology and IT systems, communications and marketing, and basic human resources functions.
- Help manage and lead the recruitment and selection process of Fellows, interns, and student volunteers, including coordinating outreach, organizing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with applicants.
- Help organize and host visits from donors, community, regional, and national partners, student groups, and others seeking to learn about Horseshoe Farm. Support relationship-building through strong logistical coordination, hospitality, and clear, engaging communication of Horseshoe Farm’s mission and model.
- Gain exposure to long-term strategic planning by participating in organizational leadership meetings and discussions.
- Support Horseshoe Farm’s emerging role as a resource and consultant to other organizations— helping share our mission, model, and lessons learned with those seeking to replicate or adapt Horseshoe Farm’s approach in their own communities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record and demonstrated involvement in service and leadership.
- We welcome exceptional recent college graduates who show strong leadership potential.
- 0–3 years of professional experience; leadership or project management experience is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, relationship building skills, emotional intelligence, and a desire to work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability or capacity to learn to provide high-quality teaching, mentorship, management, and supervision to students ranging from high school through graduate-level health and medical training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to take initiative, learn quickly, and manage responsibilities independently.
