Summary
We are seeking an Instructional Designer to join our dynamic team at Industrial Training Services. The Instructional Designer is an integral part of the Learning & Content Development Department, collaborating with the Learning, Design, Content Support teams, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to research, develop, and maintain both instructor-led and web-based training and assessment content.
Responsibilities
1. Manages instructor-led and web-based instructional and assessment content using the ADDIE Instructional Design Model and industry best practices
- Research subject matter using applicable provided source material, industry standards, regulatory compliance, and ITS libraries
- Designs instructor-led manuals and eLearning/video storyboards using the ADDIE Instructional Design Model for Client's needs and target audiences
- Facilitates Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Client inquiries and reviews
- Reviews learning content for effectiveness and design adherence
- Maintains published content libraries to be available for client review / printing
- Documents record of change and new development
- Conducts various data and statistical analyses to ensure learning effectiveness
2. Writes / Proofreads content for marketing and internal / external communication
- Supports internal departments (i.e., Consulting / Marketing / Sales) with writing, proofreading, and industry knowledge as needed
3. Develops client custom task lists and analyzes/compares with ITS libraries for client migration
- Designs custom task lists to align with client’s qualification program
- Maps / compares client legacy content to ITS libraries to assist with program migration
4. Develops professional online learning experiences using a variety of authoring and multimedia development tools
- Creates content in specific medium based on storyboard and project scope
- Generates / edits audio narration and video content
- Designs and manipulates graphics and imagery
- Administers Learning Management System (LMS) including loading, testing, and maintenance of content / assets
5. Conducts content / task configuration quality assurance testing
- Reviews online content for consistency and alignment with ITS standards
- Tests online content and task configuration for expected functionality
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, English, or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with SharePoint, Trello, Toggl, and Box is a plus.
- Writing and proofreading experience, with familiarity in standard style guides preferred.
