Behavioral Health Technician I

As a Behavioral Health Technician I, you will oversee daily activities, monitor health indicators, respond to crises, and facilitate group education and structured activities. Your role is crucial in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for clients and patients.

Key Responsibilities: 
• Provide direct oversight and support to clients/patients, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout daily activities. 
• Monitor vital signs and health indicators, determining when to escalate to medical intervention as necessary. 
• Facilitate group education and structured activities, promoting engagement and recovery skills among clients/patients. 
• Document and report any exceptional behaviors or areas of concern related to clients/patients. 
• Assist clients/patients with personal care needs, including grooming, bathing, and dressing when required. 
• Maintain accurate records of medication administration and monitor self-administration of medications by clients. 
• Participate as an active member of the treatment team, helping to identify clients’ strengths and needs. 
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, including medication storage and documentation protocols. 
• Provide transportation for clients/patients to appointments as needed. 
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as requested by supervisors. 

 

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications: 
• High School education or equivalent and two (2) years of responsible employment. 
• Experience in Human Services or a related field is preferred. 
• For St. Louis County Programs: Bachelor’s Degree, or MAADC I or II. 
• For Residential Care Facility (RCF): Become credentialed as a Level 1 Med Aid (LIMA) and be Insulin Certified within the first ninety (90) days in position. 

 

Additional Qualifications: 
• Successful completion of background checks, including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect checks. 
• Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance. 
• First Aid and CPR certification within three (3) months of beginning employment. 
• Completion of mandatory training within the required time frame. 
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle. 

 

Physical Requirements: 
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. 
 

Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shifts. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
