Overview
The Analytical Research Assistant performs a wide variety of technical tasks in support of specific Melaleuca new or existing products, under the supervision of the R&D Senior Director of Innovation. These tasks are highly specific and require someone detail oriented that is capable of using scientific reasoning and critical thinking to propose resolutions as challenges arise. The ideal candidate will be able to track and drive their tasks to completion, resolving technical issues and soliciting cross-functional support as needed.
Responsibilities
- Support new and existing research initiatives, including material sourcing, sample preparation.
- Learn how to operate and maintain the analytical equipment in the lab.
- Evaluate scientific evidence and techniques to improve processes and procedures.
- Stay current in industry technologies and developing techniques to continue expanding capabilities.
- Maintain a fit for purpose laboratory environment – clean, organized and well stocked.
- Keep accurate records of lab work in lab notebook and provide written summary reports of experiments.
- Manage time and workload to successfully complete tasks and manage priorities.
Qualifications
Essential
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related fields.
- Demonstrated knowledge of analytical testing techniques and systems biology pathways.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to analyze problems and create solutions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a cross-functional team setting.
- Ability to research information using printed material, internet resources, telephone, etc. to find solutions to problems.
- Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy.
- Proficient in PC applications including word processing (e.g. Microsoft Word), spreadsheet (e.g. Excel), artificial intelligence engines and web browsers.
Desired
- Experience with LCMS, GCMS, plate reader(s), FTIR, EPR, pH meter, and/or ELISA a plus.
- Knowledge of commonly used lab instruments (e.g. water activity meter, calipers, etc.).
- Familiarity with basic statistical tests (t-test) and design of experiments.
- Working knowledge business intelligence systems and tools JDE, SQL, Sharepoint, PowerBI, ReportServer
