Social Media Intern – Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas

As a Social Media Intern at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas, you’ll work closely with the Creative Content Manager to help share powerful stories that support our mission. This hands-on internship offers experience in content creation, short-form video, social strategy, analytics, and influencer engagement, while making a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute RMHC CTX’s social media strategy under the guidance and supervision of the Creative Content Manager.
- Manage and maintain content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter (X), ensuring consistent voice, visuals, and messaging.
- Create and schedule 4–6 weekly posts, including Reels, Stories, carousels, and short-form videos.
- Edit and produce platform-optimized video content for social-first storytelling.
- Write mission-driven captions that reflect RMHC CTX’s voice and resonate with key audiences.
- Monitor trends, hashtags, and engagement strategies to keep content relevant and culturally attuned.
- Assist with local influencer outreach and community content collaborations.
- Track analytics and report on performance to help shape future strategy.
- Stay informed on social media best practices and contribute ideas for campaigns and storytelling.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience:
- A genuine interest in nonprofit work and a passion for supporting the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas.
- Must be a junior or senior college student in good academic standing, pursuing a degree in Communications, Film, Digital Media, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Must maintain an active personal presence on social media and demonstrate understanding of current platform trends and user behavior.
- Familiarity with the Austin-area nonprofit landscape and the tone, storytelling, and content styles common within it.
- Proficient in short-form video editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.) and comfortable creating content independently and collaboratively.
- Strong writing and visual communication skills, with attention to detail in tone, captioning, and formatting.
- Experience using or willingness to learn analytics and social scheduling platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite).
- Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
