Salary Range: $73,511.00 - $102,915.00

General Description:  Assisting the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources (PRNR) department with professional public communications work that involves managing marketing, public relations, social media, internal communications, and promotional activities. Provides public information and awareness of the department's services, operations, programs, and projects. Collaborates with PRNR staff to share conservation, programming, and wildlife preservation efforts in Pasco County. Designs, writes, and produces marketing and educational materials for distribution in the community.  Supervises team responsible for marketing, social media, graphic design, and internal communication.

Essential Job Functions: Responsible for the earned and owned media image and perception of Parks, Recreation, and natural Resources within the community. Creates social media strategy for the department and executes a content plan incorporating PRNR’s strategic pillars. Writes, designs, and edits a variety of documentation which includes brochures, presentations, internal newsletters, and articles for publication. Performs work that includes gathering, writing, and editing materials to be released to the media in collaboration with Pasco County’s Public Information Office. Writes content and maintains website with updates working in conjunction with webmaster. Plans and manages advertising/promotion budget on behalf of department. Prepares reports and analytics as required. Manages the collection, analysis and presentation of facts for use in community presentations and requests for information. Develops outreach materials regarding programming, and other department special projects and initiatives. Represents the County at Public meetings and workshops. Collaborates with a variety of teams to produce high quality promotional and informational materials for traditional and cutting-edge markets. Assists department in analyzing key statistics to develop traditional and digital marketing materials and strategies. Acts as a liaison to the County’s tourism office and to the Public Information Office. Participates in public speaking engagements and represents the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department at the interdepartmental and intergovernmental meetings. Performs other management and administrative functions as directed by the Director.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge in strategic storytelling.
  • Knowledge of the methods, principles and practices of  Video and photo editing.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Express.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, graphic and visual form.
  • Ability to assemble and write a variety of news releases, pamphlets and other traditional and digital marketing materials.
  • Ability to present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate complex projects effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with County employees, citizens and State and Federal officials.
  • Ability to work weekends and nights, as needed.
  • Ability to work during Emergency Operations Center activations.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.  

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Administration, Business or other related fields and five (5) years professional marketing communications, public relations, graphic design, website development or related field. Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite programs including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and Microsoft Office Suite.
 
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
