CSPI Scholarship Opportunity

Chart your course with the U.S. Coast Guard’s College Student Pre-Comissioning Initiative (CSPI). With CSPI, students will graduate an Officer (O-1), ready to take on a real leadership role that makes a big impact on our national security and safety. After college graduation, they will attend the 17-week Officer Candidate School (OCS) in New London, Connecticut to learn the skills they need to lead missions that defend our shores, protect our nation, and save lives. They’ll then begin their career in a specialty like marine safety, law enforcement, humanitarian and natural disaster response, engineering, communications, computer science, or aviation.

Designed for students currently enrolled or transferring to a four-year minority serving institution (MSI), accepted applicants will receive a 1 or 2-year scholarship that covers:

  • Tuition and books
  • A yearly salary (E-3 pay)
  • Monthly housing allowance
  • Full military medical benefits
  • The Post 9/11 GI Bill.

After completing OCS, students must commit to 3 years of active duty service. They are also required to work 16 hours a month during their schooling on Coast Guard-related activities coordinated by their local recruiting office.

Coming out of college with a degree, little to no student debt, and a guaranteed job as an officer in the United States Military are just the beginning benefits of the College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (Scholarship Program).
