The Group Class Manager will assist with selecting, training, developing and evaluating all group class instructors. Managers are responsible for approving payroll and scheduling on When to Work.

Required Qualifications / Certifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership characteristics and commitment to high service standards.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Some availability during early mornings, evenings, University breaks and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications / Certifications:

  • A minimum of 2 semesters as a group class instructor at Colorado State University Campus Recreation.
  • Current Instructor Certification.
  • The ability to teach at least 4 modalities of group classes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling, payroll, correspondence, creating and updating written materials, tracking team member requirements, etc.
  • Demonstrate active engagement with and support of the department Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Provide a safe and effective environment for patrons.
  • Be alert to disorders, injuries, and inappropriate behavior and deal with as trained or report to supervisor accordingly.
  • Serve as a first-line resource and team leader for class instructors and assist with overall management of the instructor team by monitoring employee shift assignments and providing a strong leadership example to all class instructors.
  • Actively participate in ongoing staff training on policies, procedures and other identified items. In addition, assist with the planning and execution of special events, in-service trainings and any additional required trainings or meetings.
  • Represent Campus Recreation at departmental and University events to promote memberships and programs.
  • Assist with evaluation and mentorship of staff.
  • Lead the Fitness Instructor Training course each fall and spring.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Consistently uphold all Campus Recreation department policies and procedures for patron and employee management related to position, solve problems within limits of department policy and procedures, and maintain effective communication with colleagues.
  • Uphold service ethic, appearance standards, and Emergency Action Plan response.
  • Attend all trainings, Recreation Development Program sessions, 1on1s and team meetings as required.
