Mortgage Underwriter

About YouLand

YouLand is a fast-growing, tech-enabled real estate lending platform backed by $1.5B+ in originated loans and an expanding private credit fund, Alameda Capital. We’re building the infrastructure to power the next generation of real estate investing — faster, smarter, and more scalable.

As our loan volume continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Underwriter who can help us assess risk, structure deals, and ensure consistent, high-quality decision-making in both our lending and credit fund operations.

What You'll Do

  • Review and underwrite real estate loan applications, including fix-and-flip, bridge, and construction loans
  • Analyze borrower profiles, creditworthiness, income documentation, and property data to assess risk
  • Structure loan terms in alignment with investor criteria and internal risk models
  • Communicate directly with borrowers, brokers, and internal sales and processing teams to gather and verify required documentation
  • Prepare and present credit memos and recommendations for loan committee approval
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lending guidelines, capital markets appetite, and risk frameworks
  • Help develop underwriting policies and internal documentation standards
  • Occasionally support the credit analysis needs of Alameda Capital, our in-house private credit fund

What We're Looking For

This is a highly specialized, in-person role based in our Menlo Park, CA office, requiring deep expertise in the real estate market.

  • At least 3 years of underwriting experience in conventional, private, or non-QM real estate lending
  • Strong credit analysis and financial modeling skills
  • Deep understanding of fix-and-flip, DSCR, and bridge loan structures
  • Comfort with high loan volume and tight turnaround times
  • Strong communication and documentation skills — clear, concise, and professional
  • Ability to work in-person with our team in Menlo Park, CA (remote not considered for this role)
  • Detail-oriented and disciplined, with a low tolerance for error in credit decisions
  • A proactive and ownership-driven mindset — you move deals forward with urgency and care

Bonus Points

  • Experience underwriting both residential and small-balance commercial properties
  • Familiarity with underwriting tools and credit reporting platforms
  • Prior exposure to institutional takeout partners or securitization practices
  • Bilingual (English/Mandarin) is a plus but not required
