
Titan Advantage Program (TAP) Mentor/Tutor (Work-Study Eligible)
The position reports to the PreCollege Services Advising Specialist in the PreCollege Programs. TAP Mentors/Tutors serve as academic role models and sources of support for high school students enrolled in the program. Tutors/Mentors will lead after-school tutoring sessions, guide students through academic skill-building, and support personal growth through mentoring and college readiness activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group academic tutoring in subjects such as math, English, science, and writing
- Lead engaging and supportive mentoring sessions focused on confidence, leadership, and self-advocacy
- Assist with student homework, projects, and study strategies
- Co-facilitate college readiness workshops
- Participate in chaperone college tours, career site visits, and enrichment activities
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
- Track attendance, engagement, and progress of assigned students
- Participate in all required staff training, meetings, and evaluations
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled UW Oshkosh student (sophomore standing or higher preferred)
- Strong academic standing and proficiency in tutoring at least one core subject area
- Prior experience working with youth or in mentoring/tutoring roles
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Availability for scheduled after-school programming and weekend events as needed
- Valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance
- First Aid/CPR Certified
