GIS Technician Internship

Warren County Stormwater is seeking a highly motivated GIS Intern to join our team. As a GIS Intern, you will work closely with our GIS team to support various projects and initiatives. You will be responsible for performing field data collection, data entry, data analysis, and map production tasks to support GIS mapping projects. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn and apply GIS principles and techniques in a real-world setting. GIS Interns also assist with Stormwater public education programs. We enthusiastically offer comprehensive training to individuals who demonstrate the potential to excel in this role, regardless of whether they possess the qualifications listed below.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform data entry tasks to maintain and update GIS databases
  • Assist with data analysis tasks to support GIS mapping projects
  • Perform GIS data collection and fieldwork
  • Perform quality control checks on GIS data
  • Collaborate with other team members on GIS projects and initiatives
  • Assist with maintaining GIS hardware and software
  • Assist with public education initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a certificate or degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Public Health or other related field
  • Familiarity with GIS software, such as ArcGIS
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
