Interpretation Ambassador - FULL-TIME - Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, River Road Bushkill, PA

Start/End Dates: August 18th or asap  (12 weeks)

Eligibility Requirement: 

  • You must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  • A personal vehicle is required.
  • Must be between age 18-30 or up to 35 if a veteran.
  • The selected applicant will undergo a background check.
     

 

Position Description: 

The Latino Heritage Internship Program intern  will be leading public programs, translating park publications, and improving river and beach access sites. The intern will conduct at least four public programs (such as the popular waterfall walk) on topics like watersheds, forest forensics, and river safety. They will also translate park maps and publications to enhance visitor experience. Additionally, the intern will develop programs focused on river safety and create Junior Ranger activities. The intern will collaborate with staff and community partners to strengthen visitor relationships and recreational opportunities.

An intern is mission-critical to Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DEWA) by supporting education, accessibility, and visitor safety. The park was designated to protect the Delaware River’s natural and cultural resources while providing recreational opportunities.

 

Responsibilities:

The top requirements are fluency in Spanish, an interest in embracing new opportunities, and a willingness to further develop and build self-awareness.


 

Qualifications:

Due to the strong demand for programs in Spanish, we require the Latino Heritage Intern to be fluent in Spanish. The candidate should be comfortable speaking in front of large groups in both Spanish and English, and should have a general background in natural sciences.

Public Land Corps Non-Competitive Hiring Authority (PLC)
The Public Land Corps Non-Competitive Hiring Authority is a special hiring authority available to qualifying interns. The intern must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old, inclusive, or a veteran up to age 35 and complete 640 hours of work on an appropriate conservation project to be eligible for this hiring authority. Upon successful completion of the PLC project(s), the intern is eligible for two years to be hired non-competitively into a federal seasonal, term, or permanent position. The applicant must apply to a PLC-eligible position advertised on USAJobs.gov and selected off a non-competitive certificate of eligibility.
