ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

The San Antonio Report is a nonprofit, nonpartisan local news organization based in downtown San Antonio. We are the city’s leading local online news source focusing on politics, neighborhoods, businesses, development and educational institutions.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Editorial Intern will have the opportunity to observe our news reporters, photographers and editors at work, understand the workflow of our digital newsroom and shadow staff members as they report on stories. The intern will also get the opportunity to produce news stories and features under the guidance of our staff. 
 

Generously underwritten by Joni and Gary Raba, the Internship program consists of two internship opportunities for fall 2025: one editorial and one business team intern. Internships will be mentored by San Antonio Report leadership and provided educational opportunities to learn from both editorial and business staff. 
 

QUALIFICATIONS

A successful editorial intern will be a curious self-starter who is eager to seek out stories in the San Antonio community that will resonate with our readers. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, some experience reporting and writing on deadline, the ability to jump on breaking news stories, and a knack for spotting engaging feature stories. The intern will need to be familiar with AP style and Google Docs and be willing to work nights and weekends when asked. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in San Antonio and independent, nonprofit journalism. 
 

Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Candidates who are continuing to explore journalism as a potential career path and seeking to discover how news organizations work are encouraged to apply.
