Job Description Summary
The Staff Clinician provides 1) a range of mental health clinical services such as individual and group counseling to students and consultation services to students, families, faculty, and staff, and 2) specialized administrative services.
Job Description
Essential Duties
- Provides counseling services, including general mental health, substance use, and attention problem evaluations, and individual psychotherapy and group counseling to Miami University students presenting a wide range of mental health concerns. (50%)
- Intervenes in crisis and emergencies of a mental health nature with students, including after-hours on-call responsibilities. (5%)
- Consults with faculty, staff, and other professionals regarding the mental health needs of students. (5%)
- Provides psycho-educational programming to various groups within the university community (10%)
- Maintains clinical records and provides clinical documentation and communication with external practitioners as necessary for ethical clinical treatment. (10%)
- Coordinates specified area of administrative function, such as eating disorder case management, coordinating SCS services for students in need of assistance from other university departments and/or community resources. (10%)
- Attends and participates in clinical and other staff meetings and performs other duties as assigned. (10%)
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field with 1-3 years of experience with current Ohio licensure; or completion of a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited doctoral training program, a completed APA-approved internship, and licensed as a Psychologist in Ohio within one year of start date
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Licensed as a Psychologist in Ohio
- Provides clinical supervision and training to psychology interns within the SCS APA-accredited psychology internship training program, and other trainees, commensurate with the licensure status
- Demonstrated interest and experience working with eating disorders, substance misuse, and/or psychological assessment
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Mental Health Counseling skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and work well in a team setting
