Engineer/Construction Technician
Job description
VCI is currently seeking an onsite full-time Engineer/Construction Technician at Fort Harrison VA Medical Center, 1892 Williams St, Fort Harrison, MT 59636.
Required Qualifications:
- Recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management OR Technicians qualified in engineering trades such as electricians, building automation systems, low volt systems, communications systems, or HVAC technicians.
- Be able to pass a background check that includes validation of at least 3 years living in the US.
- Eligible to work in the US.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, fire protection, security, and IT systems in buildings
- Commercial construction experience
- Owner’s representative experience for the federal government
Other Skills and Knowledge:
- Conduct construction site inspections and prepare daily reports.
- Review/Track Contractor's submittals for technical compliance with contract requirements.
- Review/Track RFls and make recommendations as to acceptance, required changes, or rejection.
- Knowledge of Construction Contract Documents including Technical Specifications and Drawings.
- Basic knowledge of construction for hospital construction.
- Strong verbal communication skills to brief owner during project update briefings and coordinate work with facility staff personnel.
- Strong organizational skills to track project, prepare meeting minutes, and meet required deadlines.
- Most work will be completed during normal business with occasional night, holiday, and weekend required.
- Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
- Must be familiar with and able to use the Microsoft Suite of Services, including; Teams, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and basic Excel skills.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, walk long distances on rough and uneven surfaces, stand for long periods, lift construction materials to access inspections, climb ladders and scaffolding, and navigate typical civil construction site obstacles.
