Assistant Baseball Coach
The Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible for assisting with various aspects of the baseball program to include recruiting, scheduling opponents and organizing practice.
Salary Schedule: Local Salary Schedule 9-Month (September- May) Appointment- $15,300.
Summer 3-month (June, July, and August) summer appointment as needed for recruitment - $3,060,
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Head Coach with recruiting and training members of the Men's Baseball Team.
- Uphold the values and standards of the Head Coach.
- Meet LSCC, ACCC, and NJCAA deadlines for eligibility, stats, etc.
- Possesses knowledge of and remains current in Title IX, FERPA, and all applicable College policies and practices.
- Monitor student/athlete’s conduct, academic progress and study sessions.
- Monitor athletes before, during and after seasons.
- Assist with fundraising in support of the Baseball program.
- Attend LSCC Athletic Orientation.
- Participate in professional development and community service activities.
- Follow medical procedures for injured athletes.
- Maintain exemplary personal and team conduct to reflect a positive image for the team and Lawson State, both on and off the playing area.
- Assist with Field Maintenance for the LSCC baseball complex.
- Assist in supervising team practices and competition activities.
- Assist in managing inventory of and care for athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
- Knowledge of and committed to NJCAA rules of compliance.
- Commit to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Build and maintain relationships with all High School and Travel Ball Coaches.
- Create a detailed plan of action with specific long and short term goals for the year.
- Assist in compiling and organizing scouting reports on teams we are scheduled to play.
- Assign post practice and game responsibilities to players.
- Must be able to throw batting practice.
- Assist with coordinating high school game schedules for recruiting.
- Assist in organizing camps, showcases, tryouts and tournaments for high school players.
- Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisor.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution OR three years of coaching experience at the secondary, intercollegiate level, or higher.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
REQUIRED LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, OR SPECIAL CREDENTIALS:
- CPR/AED certified (must become certified before season begins)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

The Assistant Baseball Coach will be expected to work a flexible schedule which may include day, evenings, nights, weekends, some holidays and travel.
