Senior Accountant

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: This position performs accounting and financial analysis activities required for the timely and accurate maintenance of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. of NBC in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Performs financial analysis to ensure that NBC’s financial statements, records and reporting requirements are accurately reflected in the ERP system. Prepare accruals as well as bank and account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting of financial activity. Assists with the review and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, preparation of adjusting entries, and other activities required to complete month-end and year-end closings. Provides information to the auditors during the annual audit of the financial statements. Research, extracts, analyses, summarizes and prepares/presents reconciliations/analysis from the database and other financial records. Responsible for pulling the mapper from the JP Morgan web site. Responsible for reconciling the mapper to the Oracle report prior to posting activity to the general ledger. Pulls reports and reconciles the CIS customer service activity to the general ledger on a weekly and monthly basis. Maintains the master electricity account database to track electric usage, net metering credits and Purchase Power Agreement expense and prepares the accounting entries. Works with NBC staff, the electricity vendor, and outside parties to remedy billing issues. Responsible for ERP Accounts Receivable including daily deposits and monthly reconciliation to the general ledger. Records and tracks prepaid expense and reconciles the account to the ERP general ledger monthly. Stays current on the Governmental Accounting Standard Boards (GASB) standards and assists with the implementation of new GASB Statements. Performs other duties as assigned, within skill and experience capabilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in accounting and two to five years of accounting experience performing advanced accounting duties, including use of computerized ERP systems 

JOB SKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: This position requires a thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial practices/techniques gained through education and experience. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office and computerized accounting systems. Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
