Hiring Range: $79,088 - $106,768

Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Services team is seeking a full-time, services supervisor to join our team. This role oversees an interdisciplinary team providing intensive, community-based services.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field (master's degree preferred); three years of increasingly responsible job-related experience to include two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or license eligible preferred; experience providing treatment to adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses in an ACT team preferred; experience evaluating programs through data gathering and analysis preferred; experience providing clinical and administrative supervision preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of theories, principles and practices of community behavioral, prevention and/or ID programming; of principles and techniques of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of persons with behavioral health disorders; of relevant mental health laws. Ability to plan and organize a behavioral health project and/or components of a program; to interpret and apply county, state and federal regulations, policies and guidelines related to the assigned program; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers; to supervise staff. Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities, and the principles of recovery-oriented care preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
• Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides supervision and leadership to the ACT team serving adults with serious and persistent mental illness;
  • Directs the day-to-day clinical operations of the ACT Team including scheduling staff work hours to assure appropriate coverage and on-call hours
  • Leads the daily organizational staff meetings and treatment plan review meetings;
  • Evaluates the status of customers and do appropriate planning and coordination of treatment activities to ensure immediate attention to their changing needs;
  • Ensures documentation in Electronic Health Record is in accordance with licensure, agency policies, Medicaid and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards for practice; trains staff on medical record requirements; regularly reviews assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and other required documentation created by staff;
  • Develops program policies and procedures in compliance with Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) Licensure, and CARF;
  • Reviews and interprets guidelines and regulations, interpret data, monitor revenue and expenditures, and evaluate effectiveness of the program and make recommendations for improvement;
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote the program, to enhance connection and communication throughout the agency and county, and to monitor and manage referrals;
  • Develops and implements services to meet ACT model fidelity; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
