Intern - Risk Management
Wharton-Smith, Inc., a highly regarded construction company, is seeking qualified candidates for an Intern - Risk Management position. This position is located in our Corporate office in Sanford, FL.
Primary responsibilities:
- Utilize applicable platform to review and manage vendor insurance compliance, including applicable reports, with little oversight.
- Effectively communicate compliance status to vendors and project teams.
- Efficiently resolve noncompliance with vendors and project teams, including following ups, with little oversight.
- Provide knowledge and expertise regarding vendor insurance and processes to key stakeholders (both internal and external), with oversight.
- Effectively communicate claim updates to executives, adjusters, and project teams by promptly working to close claims, with oversight.
- Utilize applicable platforms to process, track, and report on claims, as assigned and with oversight.
- Complete and track subcontractor performance payment bond verification requests, as assigned and with oversight.
- Complete and track new job set up forms to ensure Owner provided policies are collected and reviewed, as assigned and with oversight.
- Work with department management to evaluate risk and insurance exceptions, as needed.
- Prepare OSHA record keeping via applicable platform, as assigned and with oversight.
Technical skills:
- This job operates in a professional office environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) to two plus (2+) years of insurance/risk
- Requires regular professional communication both internal and external.
