Assistant Engineer, XH-4742-11 (16855), Wilmington, NC

Opening and Closing Dates: 28 July–10 August 2025 (11:59pm EST)

Job Description: Serves as Assistant Engineer aboard a Corps of Engineers Dredge. As required, stands watches that includes leaving the engine room at prescribed intervals during the watch to conduct routine inspections of all equipment spaces, including dredge pump, and steering gear areas. Starts, stops, and adjusts engine room equipment as necessary. Observes pressure and temperature gauges and alarms and listens for sounds which indicate abnormal operating conditions. Inspects all operating machinery to insure proper functioning. Makes routine repairs and maintains a log of operations during assigned watch.
