HR Systems Analyst II

Position Specific Summary

The HR Systems Analyst II position at the City of Tucson’s Human Resources Department leverages enterprise level systems to provide technical support, analyze business processes, and translate business partner needs into effective technology solutions.

 

Work is performed under the supervision of the HRIS Manager. This position leads and instructs the daily operational work of HRIS personnel.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

Serves as lead and provides training, guidance, and support to staff performing similar tasks. Reviews workload, assigns work, and develops training materials and standard operating procedures. Conducts presentations in group or individual settings, ensures work quality, and acts as a subject matter expert.

 

Configures, tests, and implements new Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) modules and system updates, including areas such as Human Capital Management (HCM), Payroll, Absence, Recruitment, Performance, and Learning.

 

Translates business objectives and user needs into technical requirements for HRIS configuration. Analyzes current systems functionality to identify opportunities for improvement, customization, or training to maximize value and efficiency.

 

Advises on system capabilities and collaborates with IT, departmental leadership, and other stakeholders to align technology solutions with business goals. Maintains documentation of system updates and thoroughly tests new features and proposed updates prior to implementation.

 

Monitors system integrations to ensure successful transfer of employee data between HCM and timekeeping systems. Performs regular ad-hoc system audits and communicates with departmental HR teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of employee data.

 

Develops and runs custom and standard reports. Transforms report data for application in various projects, analysis, and presentations.

 

Researches solutions to current and future system issues and actively engages with a community of HRIS users to establish network of resources and referrals.

 

Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

 

Working Conditions

Mostly office environment. Requires on-site presence.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 
Bachelor’s degree.

Experience:
Five (5) years of directly related experience.

Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Bachelor’s in Human Resources, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related field
Professional certification from a recognized human resource or personnel association. 
Foundational Human Resources experience.
Experience in configuration and implementation of systems such as Workday, Kronos, UKG, and/or other HRIS/ERP Systems.
