Â
As a Child Support Specialist I, you will:
- Develop Expertise – Learn to navigate manual and digital case management systems and apply child support laws, policies, and regulations.
- Locate and Engage Clients – Use innovative technology to locate parents and guardians and help establish child support responsibilities.
- Conduct Interviews – Gather important information through phone and in-person interviews to support families.
- Collect Statements – Take sworn statements and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate Paternity Testing – Schedule and arrange DNA tests when needed.
- Prepare Documents – Draft forms and legal documents to move cases forward.
- Provide Support and Guidance – Answer questions and help clients understand the child support process.
- Collaborate with Partners – Work with attorneys, social workers, and law enforcement to resolve cases.
- Testify in Court – Present facts and statements when needed to support legal proceedings.

Needed to Qualify:Â Â
- OPTION I:Â Three (3) years of office clerical experience in one or more of the following areas:Â
- Interviewing the public in connection with applications for employment, insurance, public assistance or similar services.Â
- Collections work; or,Â
- Responsible, high-volume public contact which involves problem-resolution and/or the exchange of technical or sensitive information and the use of an automated system.
- OTION II:Â Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units in an accredited college, nine (9) units of which must have been in the social sciences, such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, history, or political science.Â

- A photocopy of diploma or official transcript ORÂ
- A verification or confirmation letter from the school's Registrar's Office on the official letter head of the school, with college or university seal. It should indicate the date the degree was conferred and be in English.
