Community Loan Officer

The Community Loan Officer works directly with homebuyer clients originating and closing on residential first-time homebuyer home mortgage loans for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity's (TCHFH) lending subsidiary, TCHFH Lending, Inc., and provides related borrower outreach, education, and assistance to TCHFH's partner families. The Community Loan Officer is responsible for supporting mortgage origination activities for homebuyers purchasing homes developed by Twin Cities Habitat or on the open market and assisting families through the entire lending process, from pre-approval through loan closing.

Required Qualifications

Education, credentials, and experience:

  • Active/current NMLS Minnesota Mortgage Loan Originator License
  • Minimum 3 years of proven, recent mortgage lending. Must include direct experience in originating and closing residential mortgage loans.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard underwriting, delivery requirements, and regulations.

  • Mortgage Lending: Provides borrowers with access to financing for real estate transactions while managing risk and ensuring compliance with lending regulations.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensures information is complete and accurate and follows up to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively with others, inside and outside the organization to achieve shared goals.

Preferred Qualifications

Education, credentials, and experience:

  • Degree in finance, business, accounting or real estate.
  • Background in residential lending, affordable housing, banking, finance, or accounting.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing down payment assistance programs including local housing grants/subsidies available in market and capability to assist borrowers in accessing affordable housing assistance.
