Paid News Producer Intern 1097
Ready to start your career in journalism? KIFI Local News 8 has a rare opportunity for a paid news producer intern. The news producer internship is a 12-week program where you will receive real-world, hands-on experience to help you prepare for full-time employment. This internship is for Fall 2025 and is based in our Idaho Falls newsroom.
Our paid news producer intern follows a structured curriculum where you will learn the dynamics of newsroom operations from the perspective of the broadcast/digital content producer. We will teach you important aspects of being a producer, including writing for television and online, tease writing, creating graphics, researching stories, crafting newscast rundowns and working effectively in the control room. News managers will oversee the internship to evaluate and assess the intern’s progress and ensure they are receiving the proper training and education.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer, has good people skills, stays aware of current events, and pays close attention to detail. Students are expected to obtain and complete any forms necessary to receive credit for the internship experience.
Producers play a critical role in a newsroom. News producers are responsible for overseeing the newscast. They play a role in story assignments, build the newscast, and make sure stories flow appropriately. News producers sometimes write scripts for anchors, they communicate with field crews, and are responsible for timing the elements to make sure the show ends on time. Digital Producers create and post content for online platforms, including the website, app and social media. Both News and Digital Content Producing is an in-demand career path, and this is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, hard-working and dedicated candidate.
